When it comes to exploring the depths, reliability is key. In this blog, I am going to talk about one of the most sophisticated component of our UROV – the watertight enclosure. It’s not just a protective cover; it’s the guardian of all the electronic magic happening inside our UROV.
To understand the significance of our watertight enclosure, it’s essential to grasp its role in underwater exploration. This sturdy aluminum structure serves as the ROV’s shield, protecting the electronic heart of the vehicle from the relentless embrace of the ocean. Within the secure embrace of our enclosure, a symphony of electronic components orchestrates the ROV’s functions. Here, sensors, controllers, and communication systems collaborate to navigate, collect data, and relay information to the surface.
Aluminum is selected as the ideal material for our watertight enclosure. Its lightweight yet durable nature ensures that the ROV remains agile and buoyant, while offering robust protection for the electronics and battery inside. The enclosure is no ordinary shell. It’s a masterpiece of design, combining form and function. Every curve, every seam, and every fastening are meticulously planned to withstand the immense pressures and corrosive saltwater of the ocean. The transparent dome in front of the enclosure serves as a window to the underwater world, housing a camera that captures the stunning visuals of our journey. The enclosure holds a tray inside of it on which all the electronic components are mounted. The two end caps serve as the doorway for the tray. Rubber gaskets and liquid pest is used to make it further secured. All the wires of the electronic components come out through a pipe which itself comes out through the hole in aft end cap. The hole is later on secured by liquid pest.
